About the Role: Part-Time Tutor for Foster Youth In-Home Tutoring Services

As a part-time tutor with Able Academics, you will have the opportunity to work with students who are qualified for Foster Youth In-Home Tutoring Services, providing personalized support in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. This is a unique chance to make a positive difference in the life of a child, while also gaining valuable experience and building a rewarding career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one tutoring services to foster youth students in their homes, focusing on English Language Arts and/or Mathematics for grades K-12
• Develop and implement personalized lesson plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each student
• Establish a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to ask questions and explore new concepts
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and caregivers to ensure that tutoring sessions are productive and aligned with student goals
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, including progress notes and student assessments
• Collaborate with the Able Academics team to ensure that tutoring services are delivered with high quality and consistency

Essential Qualifications:

• Current credentialed teacher, sub-teacher with college AA, BA, MA degrees, or college student with at least 60 core units
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and motivate young students
• Patient, responsible, and passionate about teaching, with a genuine interest in supporting the academic success of foster youth
• Ability to tutor in Math and/or English Language Arts for grades K-12
• Reliable means of transportation to student's home for tutoring sessions
• Current TB Test (within past 4 years) and a complete criminal background check with the DOJ and FBI

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Spanish & English
• Previous experience as a tutor, particularly with trauma training
• Experience working with foster youth or in a related field

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities
