About the Role

As a Software Engineer on Google's Expanded Reality team, you will be responsible for writing and testing product or system development code, participating in or leading design reviews, and contributing to existing documentation or educational content. You will also be expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues by analyzing their causes and impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write robust, solid, professional, and testable software designed to run on register-constrained Android gadgets.
  • Convey, plan, and carry out choices effectively through architecture/design documents and code.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of products.
  • Review code generated by different engineers and provide feedback to guarantee best practices.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of the engineering team through code, process upgrades, and software development workflow enhancements.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • Strong programming skills and the ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • 1 year of experience in AI algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning, and/or natural language processing.
  • Experience writing Computer Vision software and developing open innovations.
  • A strong understanding of software development principles, methodologies, and best practices.
