We're seeking experienced and credentialed Inpatient Medical Coders to join our team, where you'll utilize your expertise to drive success and help shape the future of healthcare. As a Remote Inpatient Medical Coder, you'll enjoy a flexible schedule, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures, utilizing your expertise in medical terminology and coding guidelines.
  • Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignment, while meeting site-designated productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding facility experience, with a strong foundation in medical terminology and coding principles.
  • CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification preferred, with a strong understanding of coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Points:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AAPC with a preference for CCS.
  • Level 1 trauma facility experience, with a strong understanding of complex coding scenarios.
  • Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software, with a proficiency in electronic health records.

Our compensation philosophy is to be externally competitive, internally fair, and not win or lose on compensation. The estimated salary range for this role is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour, with opportunities for growth and development based on individual performance and contributions.
