Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and Excel-proficient Assistant Accountant to support a high-impact financial reconciliation and clean-up initiative in preparation for a major system transition. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in structured, manual processes and enjoys working with data to ensure accuracy and integrity across financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Tackle a significant backlog of unbalanced financial days through a manual reconciliation process.
- Run and re-run daily financial reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate closely with the Central Billing Office (CBO) and internal teams to validate and track changes.
- Support Epic payment posting reviews and insurance-related reconciliations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of findings, adjustments, and unresolved variances.
- Communicate recurring issues to the accounting team and assist in root cause analysis.
- Complete monthly reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are resolved by month-end.
- Maintain accurate logs of repayments and monitor progress.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows and contribute to process enhancements.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience or internship in accounting, finance, or data reconciliation.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred (not required).
- High attention to detail and ability to follow structured, repetitive processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a multi-million dollar organization.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Epic and Lawson or similar healthcare financial systems.
- Understanding of insurance payment processes and billing workflows.
- Ability to adapt to evolving processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
Work Environment & Location:
- Monday through Friday schedule.
