Job title: HS English Teacher Company: Delaware Department of Education Job description : Develop and implement curricula to meet the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Teach content and skills in English language, literature, and composition, as well as in reading, to secondary students, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Las Américas ASPIRA Academy. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each students Communicate with parents through a variety of means, including conferences, to discuss student progress Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom by providing a safe and secure environment. Provide learning experiences that develop student competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English. Instruct students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment and materials. Provide for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools. Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary. Design and implement summative assessments to measure progress towards academic standards and formative assessments to drive instruction. Use assessment data to inform curricular and instructional practices. Create a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment. Reflect on successes and areas of growth as a teacher, seek to improve performance, and respond to feedback. Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions. Perform other related duties as assigned.
