Position Overview
This fixed‑term, student‑staff position runs from the summer through the academic year, offering a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week. You will work under the guidance of the Recreation Center leadership team, collaborating closely with fellow student employees, professional staff, and external partners to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patron Interaction: Greet visitors, answer questions, and provide clear directions to facilities, programs, and services.
- Safety & First Aid: Serve as a first responder for accidents, perform CPR, AED usage, and basic first aid; maintain current arenaxflex CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Standard First Aid certifications (or obtain within 30 days).
- Facility Upkeep: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as trash removal, equipment sanitization, and laundry duties to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Event Support: Assist with set‑up, operation, and breakdown of special events, tournaments, and community gatherings held in the Recreation Center.
- Policy Enforcement: Monitor compliance with arenaxflex facility policies, report violations, and help enforce safety protocols.
- Shift Management: Complete assigned shifts reliably; arrange qualified substitutes when unavailable to guarantee continuous coverage.
- Documentation: Log incidents, maintain accurate records of safety drills, and contribute to post‑incident reports for continuous improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other student staff, professional supervisors, and campus safety partners to deliver seamless service.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current certification in arenaxflex CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Standard First Aid, or willingness to obtain these certifications within the first 30 days of employment.
- Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) certification obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and inclusive environment for all patrons.
- Eligibility to work on campus and pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or front‑desk role, especially within a recreational or hospitality setting.
