This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position. By joining the Division of Water/Watershed Management Branch/Groundwater Section as an Environmental Scientist I in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to work in groundwater compliance and groundwater studies. Holders of the Environmental Scientist I position will complete tasks such as: Assisting in well inspections for well driller compliance Assisting in ambient groundwater sampling for historic and emerging contaminants Assisting in groundwater related studies and projects Assisting in dye traces Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Excellent time management skills Excellent communication skills GIS experience Additional position information: Travel required Standing, stooping, bending and lifting Working in field environments Driver license required EEC provides opportunities for development and upward movement.
