California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking to fill multiple Mechanical Engineer positions within the Division of Engineering Services. The role involves performing mechanical engineering design, specification preparation, estimating, and inspection work for various transportation-related facilities and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical engineering design, specification preparation, estimating, and inspection work involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of Department facilities and systems

Skills

  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
  • If you are basing your eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification
  • Unofficial, original, or official sealed transcripts will be accepted and may be required upon appointment
  • Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent
  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL)
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required
  • SOQ must be typed and NO MORE than 1 PAGE, single-spaced, using 12-point font
  • SOQ must include your name, date, and position title
  • SOQ must include Mechanical Engineering degree info, Mechanical PE licensing info, and EIT or FE certificate info
  • The SOQs must demonstrate your ability to prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for mechanical systems
  • The SOQs must demonstrate your ability to design, provide construction support, inspections, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems related to various facilities
  • The SOQs must demonstrate knowledge of applicable codes, guides, standards, safety orders, and regulatory agencies associated with the design, construction, and inspection of mechanical systems
  • The SOQs must demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • The SOQs must demonstrate your ability to work well and collaborate with others
  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Mechanical Engineer exam
  • For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions
