Position Overview

As a Customer Service Event Staff Member at SMU, you will play a key role in providing outstanding service to all guests attending athletic events. This position includes roles such as ushers and ticket takers, ensuring that each guest has a positive experience from the moment they arrive at the venue until they leave. You will be responsible for directing guests to their seats, assisting with ticket scanning, answering questions, and ensuring that the venue is operating smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide friendly and efficient service to all guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere for fans, families, and all attendees

  • Direct guests to their seats and assist with ticket scanning
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure that the venue is operating smoothly and that all guests have a positive experience
  • Work collaboratively with other event staff members to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all guests
  • Participate in pre-event and post-event activities, including setup and teardown of event spaces
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about SMU Athletics events, including schedules, teams, and venues

Essential Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or degree in hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during peak events

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience in customer service, event operations, or sports management

  • Knowledge of SMU Athletics events and venues
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and scanning technology
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Familiarity with arenaflex's event staffing company and its operations
