Job Summary

As an Experienced Customer Service/Sales Representative, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, learning about our products, and driving sales growth through expert recommendations. You'll work closely with your Department Supervisor and other associates to ensure that our customers receive the best possible experience. You'll also be responsible for maintaining the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring that they are clean, shop-able, and safe.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide fast, friendly service to customers by actively seeking out their needs and providing assistance

  • Learn about products using our tools and provide expert recommendations to customers
  • Greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in your department
  • Handle basics in adjacent departments, including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental
  • Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring that they are clean, shop-able, and safe
  • Provide a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, and reporting hazards & unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty
  • Work in cooperation with your Department Supervisor and other associates in your department as well as other departments

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

  • 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience in a retail environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet sales targets
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

* 2+ years of customer service or sales experience in a retail environment

  • Experience working in a hardware or home improvement store
  • Knowledge of building materials, tools, and equipment
  • Certification in customer service or sales
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills

Skills and Competencies

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet sales targets
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
