Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Medical Intake and Data Entry Specialist to join our Utilization Review Department in Rockford, IL. As a Medical Intake and Data Entry Specialist, you'll be responsible for collecting and processing patient intake information, medical records, and other relevant data to support our utilization review efforts. Key Responsibilities

* Collect and process patient intake information, medical records, and other relevant data to support utilization review efforts

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our electronic health record system
  • Verify and validate patient information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide excellent customer service
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve data discrepancies and ensure accurate patient information
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, medical records, or a related field) preferred

  • 1-2 years of experience in medical data entry, medical records, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in utilization review or medical records

  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
  • Experience with electronic health record systems, including Epic or Cerner
  • Certification in medical records or a related field (e.g., RHIT, RMA)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
