Key Responsibilities

As a Ramp Agent, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of cargo and baggage to and from aircraft. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft, in addition to being responsible for timely connections by guiding incoming and departing aircraft from the gate positions.
  • Safeguarding cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather.
  • Safely driving and operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion.
  • Operating baggage scanners and computers to ensure baggage is routed accurately to the customer's destination.

Work Environment and Shifts

Scheduling is based on operational needs, and shifts range from early morning to overnight. Each station is different based on its individual flight schedule. You'll work between 20 and 40 hours per week based on your seniority. As a Ramp Agent, you'll be required to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful as a Ramp Agent, you'll need to:

  • Consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Pass a physical ability test (PAT). You can prepare for the PAT by watching this video.
  • Must wear required company-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to: hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear (bump cap or hard hat), and high visibility safety apparel subject to an approved accommodation, such as alternate PPE.
  • Ability to hold airport-specific requirements such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal.

  • Previous experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Knowledge of airport operations and procedures.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages.
