About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Big Data Software Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis. As a key member of our data services group, you will play a critical role in delivering data solutions that meet the needs of our clients and stakeholders. Your expertise in big data engineering, software development, and data analytics will be essential in driving our data-driven initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and projects within technical area conditions, ensuring timely and effective delivery of results
• Contribute to large-scale planning of systems, including design, development, testing, and deployment of data solutions
• Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and report on projects and initiatives related to the technology space, including upgrades and services
• Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth assessment of technologies and systems
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients' needs, utilizing a strong understanding of the capability, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
• Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, peers, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve objectives
• Lead projects and act as an escalation point, providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics
• 3+ years of programming experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Hadoop, Teradata, MongoDB, AWS, GitHub, and Bitbucket
• 3+ years of experience in planning, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and reporting for projects and initiatives
• 3+ years of experience in Python and Unix/Shell scripting, Scala, Spark, HBase, Oozie, Flume, and Kafka
• 3+ years of experience in Ansible

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels of technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and have a proactive mindset
• Experience in designing ETL data streams using making mappings/workflows to extract data from SQL Server and Data Migration and Transformation from Oracle/Access/Excel Sheets using SQL Server SSIS
• Related experience working as a Software Engineer at blithequark
