Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Healthcare Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and support to our members. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Handling incoming calls from members regarding questions about their prescription benefits, including copays, medication coverage, and prior authorization
  • Understanding, applying, and communicating client-specific prescription benefit and pharmacy claim processing information to members, including formularies, clinical programs, and member out-of-pocket costs
  • Educating members on how to best utilize their benefits and troubleshoot pharmacy claims in real-time
  • Sending documents to providers electronically and following up with members through outbound calls as necessary
  • Anticipating and addressing questions to prevent repeat calls and delivering superior service to our members
  • Treating all customers with respect and empathy, protecting their personal health information, and abiding by all HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
  • Utilizing resources consistently to incorporate changes in our fast-paced environment and adapting to fluctuations in workload
  • Effectively working and communicating with internal teams, such as other Customer Care team members, Prior Authorization, and Manual Claims
  • Maintaining scheduled hours and demonstrating flexibility to aid in coverage, supporting the client mission statement in a professional manner

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of prior medical customer service experience, with a strong understanding of healthcare concepts and terminology
  • Excellent phone etiquette and typing skills, with a minimum of 40 words per minute and 500 keystrokes per hour
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet, with the ability to review documents and navigate systems efficiently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to hear needs and translate them into correct resolution steps
  • Ability to balance quality with speed, navigate systems efficiently, and use resources to solve problems independently
  • Reliability, including maintaining your schedule, consistently positive attitude, and professional behavior at all times

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with a strong ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefits and prescription claim processing, with a strong understanding of formularies, clinical programs, and prior authorization
  • Experience working with electronic health records and other healthcare software applications
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with members who speak languages other than English
