About the Role

As an Experienced Narrative Design Lead, you'll play a critical role in shaping the narrative direction of our next-generation game IPs. You'll work closely with our Art and Design teams to develop rich, immersive storylines that breathe life into our characters, worlds, and game mechanics. Your expertise will be essential in crafting compelling narratives that resonate with players, drive engagement, and foster a sense of community and connection.

Key Responsibilities

* Own the process of building new IPs, including working with Art and Design to develop settings, characters, player expectations, themes, and multi-season story arcs within that world

• Write all content for the project at a shippable quality, including identifying publication needs across different settings, such as in-game dialogue, writing descriptions, cinematics, areas, characters, abilities credits, hardware descriptions, and more
• Develop a deep understanding of both narrative and game design needs to weave the IP, world, and story into a cohesive whole
• Collaborate with the game design team to design story frameworks for the project's in-game experiences that inspire the player and fulfill character, enemy, and teamplay dreams
• Coordinate narrative into the project's meta-game experiences to deeply reward player attention, time, and effort
• Foster a comprehensive and inclusive culture within our team, and let this ethos guide the narratives we tell and the worlds we create
• Own communication around the IP, including creating and refining key concepts that help convey our vision to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders
• Participate actively in group playtesting and provide feedback

The Ideal Candidate

We're seeking a highly experienced and skilled Narrative Design Lead with a proven track record in game narrative direction, across multiple IPs and projects. You'll have:

• Critical experience in:

+ Game narrative direction, across different IPs and additional projects + Managing and directing writers and other creative colleagues + Building relationships with internal departments and external organizations + Working with constraints to deliver narrative to various cultures and languages + Working directly with in-game tools to convey text

• A deep understanding of narrative design theory and best practices, particularly as it relates to IP world structure
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak with authority, clarity, and curiosity
• Thrives as a member of a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team
• Succeeds in online collaboration with a remote team
• Plays widely across various genres and types
• Gets energized by mastering new skills, contributing to the team's success, and exploring new ideas
