Key Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student Peer Tutor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Attending training sessions to develop your tutoring skills and knowledge
• Facilitating virtual study groups and providing individualized support to students
• Maintaining accurate records of tutoring sessions and submitting reports on time
• Assisting with promoting learning center events and distributing promotional materials
• Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality in all interactions with students
• Collaborating with the Gruskin Learning Center Director to address any issues or concerns

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a current Penn State student with an eligible Work Study award
• Be in at least your second semester at Penn State Greater Allegheny
• Possess knowledge in your subject area and have earned at least a B average
• Be recommended by the course instructor (if applicable)
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience working in a tutoring or academic support role
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and tools
