Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lecturer A AY-SSED Teaching Supervisor to join our History department. As a Lecturer A, you will be responsible for teaching and supervising students in our graduate program, providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers. You will also be responsible for mentoring students, providing them with guidance and support as they navigate their academic and professional journeys.

Key Responsibilities

* Teach and supervise students in our graduate program, providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of our diverse student population
• Mentor students, providing them with guidance and support as they navigate their academic and professional journeys
• Use Canvas and other instructional technology to deliver high-quality instruction
• Attend faculty and college meetings, maintaining open communication with colleagues and administrators
• Maintain student records, including attendance, Individual Development Plans (IDP), and mentor and supervisor formative and summative evaluations
• Follow all CSU and SJSU policies and guidelines

Essential Qualifications

* BA in a Social Science subject area (e.g., U.S. History, World History, Political Science)

• Minimum of 5 years of U.S. and/or World History teaching experience at the secondary education level (7-12th grade)
• Ability to teach, observe, and evaluate single subject secondary education student teachers in their field placements
• Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work and employment in an educational setting
• Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population

Preferred Qualifications

* MA or PhD in U.S. or World History

• Experience with the Canvas learning management system
• Availability to engage in a professional learning team with other supervisors and subject area coordinators
