Job Description
We are seeking an experienced long-term substitute science high school teacher to join our team at Worthington City Schools. As a long-term substitute teacher, you will be responsible for teaching high school science courses, including biology, chemistry, and physics. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing individualized support to students.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach high school science courses, including biology, chemistry, and physics
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student progress and provide individualized support to students
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies
- Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in science education
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in science education or a related field
- Valid substitute license through the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio or current teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- 3+ years of experience teaching high school science
- Strong knowledge of high school science curriculum and instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in science education or a related field
- 5+ years of experience teaching high school science
- Experience with project-based learning and STEM education
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
