Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in managing classroom activities, ensuring compliance with Florida Office of Early Learning and the goals and objectives of the current VPK curriculum.
• Build and maintain positive, nurturing, and supportive relationships with children and families.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of children's growth and development to inform instruction and measure progress toward goals.
• Plan individualized curriculum to meet the specific needs of children, including those with disabilities.
• Arrange for outdoor activities daily, weather permitting, to extend the learning environment.
• Follow health and safety procedures for hand washing, toileting, handling bodily fluids, sanitizing toys and equipment, administering medication, serving food, and supervising children.
• Complete timely, neat, and accurate documentation, including screenings, assessments, individualized plans, attendance, feedings, and daily activity logs for parents.

Essential Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a classroom environment with children.
• Knowledge of group dynamics, facilitation, and collaboration.
• Ability to interpret, apply, and audit various policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in early childhood education.
• Knowledge of VPK curriculum and Florida Office of Early Learning regulations.
• Previous experience as a VPK Assistant Teacher or similar role.
