Job Summary

As a Special Education Instructor at Bridge City Center for Youth - West Feliciana, you will play a critical role in providing rigorous and engaging instructional experiences to students with exceptionalities. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction that meets the diverse needs of our students, and for tracking student progress to ensure academic growth. This is a remote-friendly role with some travel required to provide instruction to other sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and provide instructional experiences that cater to the academic, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social needs of students with exceptionalities.
  • Develop and implement compliant Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Utilize the Special Education Reporting System and JCampus to track student progress and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and make adjustments to ensure student academic growth, in alignment with the COMPASS teaching rubric components.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Special education certification, with previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Special Education Reporting System and JCampus.
  • Ability to draft compliant Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel to other sites as needed to provide instruction.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
