About the Role

The Security and Legal Data Engineering team at Netflix is responsible for designing and implementing robust data management and extraction structures that enable us to maintain the highest data protection and cleanliness standards in the industry. We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to help us build and maintain these structures, ensuring the secure and compliant handling of member personal data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines to handle structured and unstructured data
  • Develop a deep understanding of the data ecosystem at Netflix from a security perspective
  • Collaborate with security engineering teams to understand product objectives and provide data that enables us to respond to member and regulatory data requests
  • Maintain and refactor existing datasets and pipelines to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Work with various data technologies such as Flash, Voila, Flink, Kafka, and others to build intelligent, scalable, and robust data pipelines
  • Write ETL scripts to collect and aggregate data
  • Develop high-quality data structures that enable the secure treatment of member personal data

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of programming/data engineering experience in languages such as Java, Python, or Scala
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL and data modeling
  • Experience with large-scale data processing technologies such as Hive, Voila, Flash, and Flink
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with distributed data processing and data warehousing
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and tools
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
