Our tech is used by emergency services, delivery companies, eCommerce businesses, ride-hailing apps and NGOs, and is integrated into the navigation systems of millions of cars around the world. Role: The role is for an Android developer to work on our core app used by millions. We’re scaling our existing engineering, product and sales team in Ho Chi Minh City so it’s a very exciting time to join if you want to have an impact. You’ll be designing, building and scaling our mobile apps and working with engineers and product specialists in London. You’ll be working to deliver our product roadmap, choosing technologies and delivering features. The job will be working closely with the QA, UX and product teams as well, helping to iteratively develop new features and will be based out of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam You: You should have experience working in a startup environment or high impact environment, delivering apps on Android, working with a range of technologies, be able to pick up new skills quickly. Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain features on our core app

  • Collaborate with our other mobile and front end engineers to make a consolidated portfolio of products

  • Deliver features end to end from inception and design through implementation and deployment and testing

  • Stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends in Android development

  • Develop reusable Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) components intended for integration within native Android application

Essential Skills:

  • 3+ years Kotlin development in Android Studio or similar

  • Design and build advanced Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose

  • Create modular and business logic components using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMM), with the ability to collaborate or support minimal iOS integration when needed

  • Understand and work with MVVM or MVI architectural patterns as applied within existing projects

  • Extensive end-to-end experience developing mobile apps, from interpreting UX designs to working with product teams on recursive feedback and analytics/testing

  • Experience building and distributing components for third parties

  • Maintain and contribute to internal libraries and tools, distributing them via Gradle/Maven

  • Write clean, testable, and scalable code using best practices for unit and UI testing (JUnit, Espresso)

Desirable Skills:

  • Ci/CD experience (CircleCI+Argo a plus)

  • C++/NDK/JNI experience

  • Using RESTful web APIs

  • wearOS, Android Auto would be a plus

  • iOS experience would be a plus

  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English

  • The ability to talk to techies and non-techies in suitable language

  • A passion for development and staying current with technology trends

  • The ability to work both independently and with others

  • A focus on high quality software engineering work and attention to detail

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Extra credit if you:

  • Like maps and location based services and know what a GIS is (we love maps)

  • Are able to understand the business context of what you’re doing – understand the value your work creates.

  • Enjoy learning new skills in scripting languages and how to use those to showcase our products

The office The role is based in our centrally located HCMC office. While you can work from the office five days a week if preferred, our Engineering team can choose to work up to two days a week from home. We also offer a six-week remote-work allowance; for up to six weeks a year, you can work from anywhere in the world (as long as you’ve got great WiFi and are happy to work with your main office timezone).
