Position Description:
We are looking for an Entry Level Civil/Structural Substation Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and should have 0-3 years of experience. Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor is preferred. Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication/coordination skills are essential.
This position will design civil/structural components of electrical substations, including but not limited to, steel design, connection design, foundation design, and anchorage design, in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.
This position will provide frequent exposure to structural design standards and codes, including but not limited to, AISC, ASCE, ACI, and IBC. This position will require the use of engineering software, including but not limited to, STAAD, MathCAD, and LPILE.
This position is hybrid, with the option to be within a normal office environment, work fully remote, or a combination thereof. This position requires infrequent travel.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Perform engineering calculations in accordance with governing industry code and client standards
- Utilize finite element modeling and other engineering software, validating all results with supplemental hand calculations
- Prepare construction drawings with the assistance of a designer/technician competent in the use of industry standard CADD software, and in accordance with client standards
- Prepare fabrication level steel drawings and bill of materials
- Prepare project documents in accordance with client requirements
- Attend site visits as required
- Assist in the preparation of proposals
- Assist Project Managers as needed
- Attend client, project and staff meetings
- Attend seminars and/or training classes
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Maintain a safe working environment
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required
Skills/Experience:
- 0-3 years of related experience is required
- Knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor are required
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred
