Empower Young Minds: AmeriCorps Literacy Lead Opportunity in Denver, CO

Join Reading Partners as an AmeriCorps Literacy Lead and play a vital role in shaping the future of education. As a Literacy Lead, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of elementary-aged students, empowering them to become confident readers and lifelong learners. This full-time AmeriCorps service position is based in Denver, CO, and offers a unique chance to develop your skills, build your network, and advance your career in education.

In this role, you will provide direct tutoring support to students in need of individualized instruction, both in-person and remotely. You will work closely with students, parents, and caregivers to create a positive and supportive learning environment, and contribute to the development of literacy strategies that drive student success. As an AmeriCorps member, you will serve from October/November 2023 through June 2024, committing to a service term of 1,200+ hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct tutoring support to an average of 10-15 target students twice per week
• Identify and implement alternative literacy strategies to meet the unique needs of each student
• Manage student records, track progress, and administer assessments
• Forge and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, caregivers, and community stakeholders

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage competing priorities, and excellent communication skills
• Experience with technology systems, such as Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom Conferencing, is a plus

• Living allowance of $16,695.36, paid twice per month
• Education award of $4,826.50 after successfully completing your service term
