About the position At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Technical Editor, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Technical Editors joining our team to exceed customer expectations in technical writing and process improvement capabilities while also providing process governance and deliverable management services. As a Technical Editor supporting Technology Shared Services (TSS) Writing and Process Management (WPM), you will be trusted to research, prepare, and edit technical and graphical documentation for a variety of technical systems and platforms. GDIT is committed to fostering economic growth and prosperity in Louisiana, with established operations in multiple locations throughout the state, including facilities in New Orleans, Natchitoches, and our Integrated Technology Center in Bossier City, LA. This position offers the flexibility to work HYBRID going from anywhere within the state of Louisiana and be able to go to the facility as required per the program. Currently, it is 1x per week. GDIT is not offering relocation for these positions. As a Technical Editor, you will produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and conforms to client-specific style, tone, and document layout standards. You will conduct technical edits on existing legacy documentation, correcting any contextual issues, content organization, or formatting errors. You will also develop process, procedure, and work instruction documentation for projects while collaborating with project leads and management. Your role will involve creating and editing easy-to-understand user guides/job aids to help end-users operate a variety of applications or documentation repositories. Additionally, you will create custom frameworks that define how business processes are designed, executed, monitored, and improved, and maintain documentation repositories in SharePoint, ServiceNow, or Confluence. You will review existing processes and offer expert recommendations for process improvements, streamlined workflows, and simplified procedures, capturing requirements for application development and workflow automation. Lastly, you will collaborate with GDIT programs and TSS service delivery lines to obtain an in-depth understanding of products or services and documentation requirements, clearly defining documentation project scope and monitoring project schedules until completion and approval.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and conforms to client-specific style, tone, and document layout standards.

  • Conduct technical edits on existing legacy documentation, correcting contextual issues, content organization, or formatting errors.

  • Develop process, procedure, and work instruction documentation for projects while collaborating with project leads and management.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Technical Writing or Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent years of experience.

,

  • 2+ years of technical writing/editing or related experience (or 4+ years of technical writing/editing or related experience with no BA/BS).

,

  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to write process documentation and design process flow diagrams for multiple audiences.

,

  • Experience with managing multiple tasks and prioritizing workload.

,

  • Excellent communication and customer interface experience.

,

  • Required Technical Skills: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, SharePoint.
