About the role

As the Hype Team Lead, you’ll be the strategic force behind Canva’s trend-driven marketing. Your role is to shape the vision, steer the team, and deliver campaigns that ignite cultural momentum and drive mass awareness. You’ll shape the vision, lead a small but mighty team and deliver scroll-stopping campaigns that create cultural momentum. You know how to spot an early trend signal, turn it into a creative springboard and lead teams and agency partners from pitch to post with urgency and clarity You’ll launch things that make people say, “Wait, Canva did that?”, and you’re hungry to do it again

What you’ll do

• Set the vision and roadmap for trend-driven campaigns that make waves across TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and emerging platforms

• Turn AI-powered features, Canva tools, and user behaviors into viral, shareable moments

• Lead creative sprints internally and with agencies—balancing speed with boldness.

• Write crystal-clear briefs that combine cultural insight with creative provocation

• Partner closely with product, brand, creator, and marketing teams to ship fast and shape the future of creative storytelling

• Identify trends, content loops, and formats Canva can originate, join or remix

• Champion experimentation, helping the team test, learn, and evolve quickly

Who you are

• A social-native, AI-curious creative strategist with proven experience in brand, culture, or digital storytelling, ideally at a media platform, creative agency, or trend-forward brand

• You’ve led creative projects or agile campaign squads and know how to bring the best out of small teams or collaborators under pressure

• You understand how trends start,not just when they’ve peaked,and can steer creative direction based on real-time shifts in culture

• You move fast without losing the story, balancing instinct with strategic clarity

• You’ve managed or worked with agencies or freelancers on tight timelines and “sprint-style” creative execution

• Fluent in how generative AI is shaping internet culture, you’re excited by what’s possible when you put tools like Canva’s Magic Studio or ChatGPT in the hands of creators.
