Senior Data Engineer

System is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer with a specialization in Electronic Medical/Health Record data to join our team. The primary responsibility for this role will be to design and deploy pipelines that integrate a data-intensive AI application with EMR/EHR data to improve patient outcomes through informed clinical decision making. The Data Engineer will report to our Head of AI and Engineering.

As Data Engineer, you will:

• Design, build, and deploy scalable data pipelines in support of machine learning and AI workflows
• Work with colleagues to design, build, and deploy applications that integrate with EMR/EHR systems, specifically Epic
• Prototype and research new tools for improving existing data infrastructure (e.g., vector databases and other tools for storing text embeddings)

The ideal candidate has:

• 3+ years experience supporting data-driven or ML applications in production environments
• Strong experience designing and deploying data pipelines using orchestration tools like Prefect, Airflow, or dbt
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake)
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and scientific research
• Familiarity with deploying containerized applications in cloud environments (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (Postgres)
• A proven ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated team orientation with strong ability to drive projects autonomously as needed

The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $210,000 per year.
