Your impact

As an AI Tutor with a background in Economics, you'll help train AI models to interpret, analyze, and generate economics-related content—from microeconomic theory to macroeconomic policy. Your expertise will ensure outputs are rigorous, data-informed, and reflective of real-world application.

This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to the Handshake’s primary business operations. The Contractor’s services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.

Your role

• Assess the quality of economics-related annotations and AI-generated responses.

• Provide feedback to improve understanding of economic models, logic, and application.

• Work on tasks spanning financial markets, public policy, behavioral economics, and more.

• Collaborate with internal teams to refine task guidelines and evaluation standards.

• Stay adaptable as task complexity and content areas evolve.

Your experience

• PhD (or ABD) in Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong ability to explain both theoretical and applied economic concepts.

• Experience analyzing data and evaluating claims using quantitative reasoning.

• Curious, collaborative, and excited about applying economics in new ways through AI.

Bonus areas of expertise

• Research experience with published work in a reputable journal.

• Previous AI tutoring experience.

• Teaching experience (professor, teacher, or tutor).

• Experience in technical writing, journalism, or professional writing.

Additional Requirements

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.

• Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.

• Reliable access to a smartphone.

Location & Work Expectations

• Fully remote position.

Compensation range

• $55/hr - $100/hr

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
