Job title: Teaching Artist - South Brooklyn Company: The Leadership Program Job description : Teaching Artist We're hiring for the school year! We have schools near Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Brighton Beach, and other neighborhoods. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing mentoring and facilitation through our unique student-centered approach into multiple NYC schools. Think you're an ideal candidate? Expected programming start late Septemeber including Orientation and Training. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Work independently to implement programming in some of the most challenging NYC public schools Serve as a mentor and positive role model Recruit and retain students as needed Learn and utilize our methodology Utilize your background to plan and implement after school programming Work on special projects and activities with students and community members Attend staff meetings and training Be prepared to physically work in any of our school communities and sites Be physically prepared to meet the demands of setting up your spaces at school sites, pick-up and drop-off supplies, and facilitate the activities of your assigned placements Submit appropriate paperwork and enter activity logs, attendance, and other data into our online database bi-weekly SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE YOU SHOULD POSSESS: We are in need of candidates with backgrounds in martial arts, athletics, multimedia, chess, and dance, so these skill sets are a major plus, be sure to highlight them. We are also in need of multilingual candidates to include Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Creole, Bengali Bachelor's Degree or higher A minimum of two years experience working in city public schools or equivalent Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well and collaborate with team members Strong classroom management skills Experience with Social Emotional Learning framework a plus Technological capacity to provide virtual facilitation if needed, as well as knowledge of virtual platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Experience in Anti-Racist Education and Restorative Justice is a major plus Are already, or ready to be, fingerprinted through the State Department of Education COMPENSATION: After school rates start at $130 for 3-hour in-person placements/residencies.
