Hoot Reading is seeking passionate, part-time educators to help young students boost their reading skills – phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency and comprehension following the Science of Reading. Currently, we are seeking educators available between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT from Monday to Friday. You don’t need to be available for this entire time frame but preference will be given to teachers with open and consistent availability for at least three days during the school week. We are looking for teachers to join us as soon as possible. We strongly encourage bilingual individuals who speak Spanish to apply for the position. REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: • A completed Bachelor’s degree in Education, or equivalent, or higher is required. • Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with preference to Kindergarten to Gr. 6 is required. • Successfully complete required criminal background check, child abuse registry check and FBI fingerprinting (cost covered) • Be located and eligible to work in the United States. • Passion for structured literacy and science of reading. • Reliable laptop/computer, headset and internet connection. • Technical requirements can be found . • Designated quiet space, distraction free work environment. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO: • Deliver literacy instruction, maintain accurate data records and manage your work schedule through our web-based proprietary platform • Prioritize outcomes and student learning with a keen eye for detail • Develop a trusting relationship with students, parents, and peers • Self motivate, practice empathy and understanding for your students while remaining unwavering in your commitment to their individualized learning progress • Maintain consistent availability • Follow lesson plans and cater to student needs, monitor and record student progress data • Be punctual for all tutoring sessions and maintain excellent attendance • Meet performance standards for all responsibilities related to your role (eg. attendance, instruction,data recording etc), representing the Hoot with the utmost professionalism ABOUT HOOT: With 34% of children entering Kindergarten lacking basic reading readiness skills and over 65% of 4th graders reading below grade level, we are on a mission to change children’s lives through literacy.Hoot Reading is the leading online tutoring service providing 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction based on the Science of Reading.
