Job title: Construction / Auto Basics Teacher Company: Alvin Indepedent School District Job description : Ensure that students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce as carpenters or building maintenance supervisors or to prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Option 1: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned Option 2: An associate?s degree or higher from an accredited institution Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching Option 3: A high school diploma or equivalent Five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial power tools and non-commercial power tools (drill, jigsaw, router, circular saw, etc.) Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community. Ability to create and manage interactive, innovative, hands-on projects for student engagement and effectively teach and work with high school students. Have a working knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program. Experience: Preferred Meet NCCER Craft Instructor Requirements (one of the options listed below) Work experience at a minimum journey level or licensed technician level (at least 4 years) in a Construction related field.
