Job title: K-12 Intervention Specialist (23-24 School Year) Company: Montgomery County Educational Service Center Job description : The Darke County ESC is looking for an Internvention Specialists for the 2023-2024 school year in the area of SBU classrooms for the Darke County special education units. We have multiple resources to help in the classroom such as SameGoal, paraprofessionals, MH therapist and BCBA as well as special education supervisors and all areas of related services are available. We offer professional development trainings throughout the school year. The job description is listed below. DARKE COUNTY SCHOOLS POSITION GUIDE TITLE: CLASSROOM TEACHER ? SPECIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid teacher?s license for the assigned grade levels/subject areas. 2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as approved by the Board of Education. REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Services/Supervisor/Principal of the School District JOB GOALS: 1. The classroom teacher will provide instructional activities which are consistent with objectives of the academic program and state academic content standards. 2. To foster development of skills, attitudes and knowledge in an educational program appropriate for pupils in grades K-12. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: MANAGEMENT ? ORGANIZATION 1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times scheduled. 2. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner. 3. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and academic content standards. 4. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. 5. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of students. 6. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. 7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 8. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. 9. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. 10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 11. Prepares for classes assigned. 12. Meets deadlines as established by the administration. 13. Prepares daily lesson plans in accordance with state standards. 14. Uses progress book and other educational software to enter grades and report student data. PROFESSIONAL ? PERSONAL QUALITIES: 1. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods. 2. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. 3. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to pupils, parents or school personnel. 4. Seeks assistance of district specialists in meeting the special needs of students. 5. Supports school activities through participation and/or attendance. 6. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. 7. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work. 8. Respects all students regardless of their performance or ability. 9. Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the building principal or direct supervisor. COMMUNICATIONS: 1. Develops and maintains rapport with students, parents, community, and school personnel. 2. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when necessary. 3. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communications with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. 2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions. 3. Occasional interaction among unruly children. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Employed on a 185-day contract. 2. Salary to be established as per salary schedule. 3. Holidays as per board policy. 4. Retirement and Sick Leave days accumulated as determined by board policy. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Pupil Service and/or designee in cooperation with the person being evaluated.
