Remote Technician (Part Time)

Alpha Media - Crystal Lake, IL, is seeking a part-time Remote Technician for upcoming remote broadcasts and events. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule, including availability on weeknights and weekends. The Remote Technician is responsible for assisting the Promotions Coordinator with such remotes and events by driving station vehicles to and from the locations, setting up remote equipment, plus handling set-up/tear-down of tables, chairs, and station banners at the location. The position may also necessitate occasional in-office duties. The candidate must have a great personality and be willing to meet and greet listeners and attendees. Oftentimes, there are register to win items on-site, which the Remote Technician will be responsible for coordinating. Most on-site remote broadcasts and events will be two hours in length (with some exceptions). It is expected that the remote technician will arrive up to one hour in advance of these events to ensure proper setup and display. A valid driver's license and excellent driving record are imperative. This position provides a talent fee compensation for each remote engagement completed. Responsibilities of this position may include the following:
  • Setting up station events: raising tents, plugging in sound systems, putting up signage/banners.
  • Managing the events while in progress: interacting with listeners, leading games, prize wheels, speaking on the microphone/PA.
  • Successfully communicate with several different types of positions: listeners, employees, management at events, and clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for this position include the following:
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must hold a valid Driver's License and current auto insurance.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preference may be given to candidates who have the above experience plus the following:
  • 21 years or older.
  • Have an interest in radio.
  • Previous radio or media experience.
