Our firm is currently seeking a remote, full-time attorney, licensed in the state of South Carolina, to provide representation and limited-scope legal assistance to consumer clients involved in debt collection lawsuits.Responsibilities will include representing and defending clients in collection cases initiated by original creditors or debt buyers and, for clients who engage the firm in a narrower capacity, providing limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm’s paralegals. This position will rarely require complex litigation and/or attendance at final hearings, as clients are enrolled in a debt resolution program, and typically desire to settle through voluntary payment arrangements with the creditors. Where in-person attendance at a hearing becomes necessary, the attorney will have the option of attending or asking the firm to secure local coverage counsel.In addition to litigation, the position also encompasses limited debt resolution program oversight, including evaluating settlement offers and completing periodic file assessments.This position is fully remote, allowing the attorney to telecommute from a designated remote workspace.
