Join our team as we help shape the future.The Hartford’s Surety Bond Claim team is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Bond Claim Representative to join our highly experienced team! We are currently the sixth largest surety insurer in the country, providing construction and commercial surety products both domestically and internationally. In the event a claim is presented alleging that our bonded principal is not performing in accordance with a bond issued on its behalf, we investigate the situation and determine the best course of action to promptly and fairly meet our bonded obligations.Seattle location would be highly preferred, however all U.S. locations will be considered.RESPONSIBILITIES:Communicate with principals, obligees, claimants, underwriters and others to investigate, analyze and reach sound, well documented conclusions with regard to Hartford surety products, discharging Hartford’s obligations as appropriate. Frequent interaction with opposing legal counsel should be anticipated.Review all manner of claim related documents including proofs of loss and supporting/competing documentationInvestigate, analyze and document a variety of commercial and contract claims of varying complexity, including the creation, sending and filing of all required forms and reasonably necessary letters, documents, spreadsheets and management reportsExtensive review of contracts, related contract documents, bond forms and case law as required by any given claim or projectAssure timely compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements related to Hartford surety productsCollaborate with team members on claim files and other projectsAssist with assigned projects which may include document creation, internet research, file maintenance and special projectsIdentify and pursue salvage opportunitiesSelect and amend form documents as needed to meet Hartford’s bond obligations.QUALIFICATIONS:JD (preferred) or equivalent work experience.1-3 years of experience in surety claims or equivalent experience in litigation matters within a legal environment preferredOutstanding interpersonal skills working within a dedicated, supportive teamStrong focus on delivering outstanding customer serviceDemonstrated strong written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized and excellent time management skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritize competing requirements successfullyAbility to build successful business relationships with brokers, accounts and members of the home office and field organizationWHAT ELSE CAN YOU TELL ME?Licensing Requirements: As a condition of your employment, within 6 months of hire you must obtain and maintain an Adjuster’s license for either Florida, Texas, or Washington and possibly other jurisdictions to handle insurance claims throughout the United States.Travel with this position would rarely exceed 10-15%, depending upon business needs.This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Scottsdale, AZ Lake Mary, FL, Naperville, IL and Danbury, CT) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Wifi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
