Our team is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality technical documentation to military specifications, supporting the creation of interactive electronic technical manuals, maintenance work requirements, and other critical documents.What You Will Be Doing
As the Technical Publications Writer, you will be responsible for creating a wide range of technical documentation, including Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), and Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs). You will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify technical concepts and ensure project completion is on time and within budget.Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and validating technical documentation to military specifications
- Creating procedural art and illustrated graphics
- Interfacing with SMEs to understand technical concepts and develop courses of action
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and software description documents
- Collaborating with the team to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results
- Experience standing up a new program and establishing new system technical manuals (organization, intermediate and depot level)
- Extensive knowledge in MIL-STD-40051-2D, DI-SESS-80792 and TA-STD-0017
- Working knowledge and proficiency with XML (Arbortext), SGML, and cable of producing both paper-based manuals and publishing in IADS
- Capable of producing illustrations for use in technical manuals
- Capable of implementing MFC OneLM Automated Technical Publications Capability
- Experienced leading customer attended events (validation, verification, logistics demonstrations and working groups)
- Significant experience and proficiency as a technical writer across a wide variety of writing platforms, projects, and programs.
- Proficient with Microsoft office products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat (Standard/Professional).
- Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged in developing products, observing production methods,
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Previous Stinger/M-SHORAD operator or maintainer experience
- Proposal support experience
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI for future assignments
- Desire to grow into a multi-discipled LSE role and support program in more than technical publications
- Experience leading or supporting technical publication validation, verification and logistics and maintainability demonstration events.
- Experience working with stylesheets including eXtensible Stylesheet Language Formatting Objects (XSL-FO), eXtensible Stylesheet Language
- Working knowledge of Content Management Systems such as WindChill or S1000D Common Source Database.
