Reporting to the Director for Degree Completion and Adult Learning (DCAL), the Adult Success and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) Coordinator will serve the population of post-traditional students seeking undergraduate degrees at William Paterson University, by helping facilitate and process Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) documents of adult learners. The full-time Student Success/CPL coordinator will work with the Director, faculty CPL Liaisons, and various university offices to assist in expanding CPL options. This is an excellent opportunity to experience working with the adult population in transition, and/or adults returning to college to complete their degree. The team member is expected to promote an atmosphere of professionalism and to be courteous and helpful to all students and faculty. The successful applicant will engage with a larger Academic Care Team (ACT) in support of WP Online UG students. This is a full-time position; though some remote work will be approved, there is an expectation of consistent in-person presence in the College of Adult & Professional Studies offices. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provides individualized advising to students on CPL opportunities and requirements such as: Portfolio Assessment, Credit by Examination, Challenge Exams, Credit Equivalencies for professional credentials, Transfer Credit, and Military Credit. Manages and enters Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) documentation, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and accreditation standards. Creates and maintain resources for students regarding CPL processes, including guidelines, workshops, and informational materials. Works collaboratively with academic departments to create and develop new pathways for credit for prior learning. Teaches and help coordinate the non-credit Peer Career Learning courses. Creates, maintains and/or duplicates Blackboard Course shell for CPL Portfolio courses. Supports the DCAL Director with grant writing and grant management. Utilizes student services technology, including but not limited to Banner, Degree Works, Navigate, Teams, WebEx and Zoom. Cultivates relationships with external organizations and partnerships to enhance the recognition of industry certifications and training programs, thereby building and promoting pathways for Credit for Prior Learning. Expands external partnerships to create grant opportunities for adult learners in transition. Mentors returning adults in the WP Online majors. Assists adult students in building community through Navigate, Slate, and peer to peer events. Assists with coordinating and facilitating academic readiness and support workshops with other WP Offices such as: Library, Career Development Center, Student Activities, Wellness, and others. Assists DCAL team in preparing the Communication schedule/calendar. Maintains confidentiality and follow WP reporting procedures Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position. Education and Experience: Post-baccalaureate degree preferred; bachelor’s degree required. 2-3 years experience working in higher education or Non-profit preferred. CAEL certification in assessing prior learning preferred (current or in progress). Competencies/Skills Preferred: Experience with Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) or Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). Experience working with diverse student and adult learner populations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external organizations. Extensive experience in grant writing and management. Experience using information technology related to student services, including Recruitment App, Banner, Degree Works, Navigate, TEAMS, WebEx and Zoom. Ability to work in online and face-to-face environments. Experience conducting training workshops and /or seminars. Must be available for evening and weekend work as needed. Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools such as Qualtrics, with the ability to effectively analyze data and generate reports for staff and faculty. Excellent self-direction, communication, organizational and project management abilities. Valid Driver’s License for occasional travel related to the functions of the position. Other Information: The hours for this position are flexible as coordinated with the DCAL director and will involve occasional evenings and weekend commitments.
