AP English Language, Literature, and Composition Tutor (Remote)

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Remote AP English Language, Literature, and Composition Tutor to help high school students excel in their Advanced Placement (AP) English exams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English language, literature, and composition, exceptional teaching skills, and the ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Online Tutoring Sessions: Provide engaging one-on-one or group tutoring sessions via video conferencing tools, focusing on AP English Language, Literature, and Composition.
• Develop Customized Study Plans: Assess students' strengths and weaknesses and create personalized study plans that address individual needs and goals.
• Teach Language and Literature Skills: Instruct students on critical reading, literary analysis, writing techniques, and rhetorical strategies required for the AP exams.
• Provide Writing Feedback: Review students' essays, provide detailed feedback, and help them improve their writing skills, including organization, clarity, and style.
• Monitor Student Progress: Regularly evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instructional methods to ensure continuous improvement.
• Resource Creation: Develop and share practice materials, essay prompts, literary analyses, and other resources to enhance learning and preparation for AP exams.
• Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes to the AP English Language, Literature, and Composition curriculum and exam formats, as well as advancements in online education technology and methods.
• Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Provide regular updates on student progress and suggest ways they can support their child’s preparation at home.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field. Advanced degrees or teaching certifications are a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching or tutoring AP English Language, Literature, and Composition, with a proven track record of helping students achieve high scores.
• Subject Expertise: Deep understanding of the AP English Language, Literature, and Composition curriculum and exam structure.
• Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with online teaching platforms, digital whiteboards, and educational software.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback on students' writing.
• Interpersonal Skills: Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with other standardized tests or advanced English courses.
• Previous online teaching or tutoring experience.
• Certification in test preparation or English instruction.
