Senior Assistant Engineering Project Manager
Job Location: Hershey, PA Summary: Reporting to Senior Manager Engineering, Assistant Project Manager will assist Staff & Principal project managers responsible for initiating and executing capital projects of varying complexity, delivering the capital plan on time and within budget. The PM will be responsible to learn how to promote and implement the use of technology and developing solutions to solve complex engineering problems that meet the company's current and/or future business needs. The successful candidate must be able to display a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail. The candidate will be responsible to model leadership and develop the ability to provide instruction to engineers, plant staffs, technical resources, contractors, and others within the Supply Chain. Candidate will be responsible to learn and understand all phases of large projects or programs, from project development through close-out. The successful candidate must be capable to learn and develop the following: ? Ability to work in an environment characterized by constant change & tight deadlines. ? Communicate both verbally & written to all levels of the supply chain. ? Analyze & identify problems by using root cause analysis and recommend unique solutions to correct the issue. This role will interact and partner with: ? Technical and professional employees within Global R&D and Tech Center Operations ? Plant Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, EHS and Quality Assurance ? Other Corporate Engineering functions (Process, Electrical, Packaging, Civil, Utilities) ? Quality and Regulatory Compliance ? Environmental, Health, & Safety ? Procurement ? Marketing ? Operations Business Development ? Manufacturing Alliances ? External Vendors & Contractors In addition, the Assistant Project Manager responsibilities will include: Assist in delivering Capital Projects ? Assist Senior Level Project Managers in providing leadership for the execution of all phases of a capital project from project development thru project close out. ? Learn & develop how to leverage engineering knowledge, judgment, creativity, and experience to lead multiple disciplined engineering initiatives of high complexity and long duration. ? Thru application & development with Senior PM, learn how to provide technical direction to project teams that leads to the development of sound engineering alternatives and recommendations. Capital Project Development ? Learn how to apply the Performance Driven Projects process during the development of capital projects. ? Develop negotiation skills to "sell" project through the capital approval process. ? Learn how to develop the business case, technical feasibility, and plan for customer (plant) acceptance. Bachelors degree is required in one of the following disciplines; Mechanical, Chemical, Civil / Structural, or Electrical Engineering).
