Job Summary and Qualifications GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Transcriptionist provides a variety of clerical duties, including medical transcription, to physicians and other members of the clinic. SUPERVISOR: Practice Manager DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Transcribes dictated material, producing an average of at least 138 lines per hour. Meets production standards and maintains error of 3% or less. Edits reports in the system. Queues and transcribes all requests for STAT transcription as needed. Charts transcribed reports once a shift. Logs, prints, and maintains reports. Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task. Maintains the strictest confidentiality. Perform other duties as required. Must read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements. EDUCATION: No education Requirement EXPERIENCE: One to three years experience in a medical office setting is required. Prior transcription experience is preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: No license requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports and correspondence. Skill in operating a computer, Dictaphone, and copy machine. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to type at least 60 wpm. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
