Grocery Clerk

Job Summary: Fiesta Mart is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented Bulk Deli Cheese Clerk to join our team at the Store 001 Houston Quitman location. In this role, you will provide exceptional service to customers, manage the presentation of bulk deli cheese products, and maintain a clean and inviting department. This position involves working closely with customers to fulfill their needs while ensuring that product displays are well-stocked and appealing. Responsibilities: • Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful customer service by assisting customers in selecting bulk deli cheese products. • Clean, fill, and rotate cheese and deli displays to ensure freshness and quality at all times. • Replenish products as instructed by the Bulk Deli Manager or Assistant Bulk Deli Manager, ensuring that all items are stocked and organized. • Assist customers with product selection, explain features, and make recommendations based on customer preferences. • Maintain cleanliness of the department throughout the shift, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces to ensure a sanitary environment. • Handle customer requests, process orders, and provide special service as needed. • Perform general duties including restocking shelves, labeling products, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. • Regularly lift, carry, and move products, up to 60 pounds, as necessary to keep the department stocked. • Work effectively with fellow team members and department managers to ensure smooth department operations. • Follow all store safety procedures and guidelines to create a safe and welcoming work environment. Qualifications and Experience: • Must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) to assist customers and co-workers. • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, and shelf tags. • Ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively in small group and one-on-one situations. • Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods. • Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment is preferred, but not required. • Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is required (or must be obtained shortly after employment). • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and a strong desire to provide excellent customer service. It Would Be Extra Awesome if You Brought: • Basic computer and Microsoft Outlook skills. • Retail Management Certificate or any related certifications in food safety and customer service.
