REMOTE: Sr Systems Programmer

About the position American National is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Programmer to help manage infrastructure software and systems of our mainframe and mid-range computing platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of organizing, planning, configuring, and the installation of all computing infrastructure components. You will provide senior technical oversight for all computing systems and software configurations, ensuring that operating systems and their attendant third-party software components are compatible and at supported versions across the enterprise. As a Senior Systems Programmer, you will also provide senior technical leadership and consulting services to ensure adequate training and support services are available for application programming and computer operations personnel. You will be tasked with ensuring that adequate technical controls are in place for monitoring system performance and availability, recommending necessary changes to systems parameters affecting performance and availability. Additionally, you will assist in providing coordination and planning to ensure that training and mentoring for other members of the group is consistent with changing technologies and the introduction of new infrastructure software. Responsibilities • Provide senior technical oversight for all computing systems and software configurations , • Assist in the creation of technical controls, practices, and processes to ensure compatibility and supported versions of operating systems and third-party software , • Provide senior technical leadership and consulting services for application programming and computer operations personnel , • Ensure adequate technical controls are in place for monitoring system performance and availability , • Recommend necessary changes to systems parameters affecting performance and availability , • Coordinate and plan training and mentoring for group members consistent with changing technologies and new infrastructure software Requirements • Bachelor's degree in the Information Technology field or equivalent experience , • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the Information Technology field, with five (5) of these directly related to Systems Programming responsibilities , • Specialization in z/OS MVS/VM operating system software and/or one or more subsystems or business applications, such as CICS, DB2, IMS, RACF, SMP/E, JES2, z/OS Communications Server, ASG ZEKE, BMC MAINVIEW, DFSMS (OAM, DFP) , • Ability to participate in an on-call 24-hour weekly rotation to respond to problems Nice-to-haves Benefits • Medical insurance , • Dental insurance , • Vision insurance , • Basic life insurance , • 401k plan , • Paid time off , • Paid holidays Apply Job!
