Job Description 2025-0002904 Software Engineer 2 - Android Developer This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best-in-class software experiences. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Architect and implement clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Lead and mentor junior developers in best practices, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create seamless user experiences.
  • Optimize applications for performance, responsiveness, and efficiency.
  • Integrate with RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and third-party services.
  • Utilize Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Coroutines, LiveData, and Dependency Injection (Dagger/Hilt) to build robust applications.
  • Ensure app security and compliance with industry standards.
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and UI tests using JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
  • Stay updated with the latest Android trends, tools, and frameworks.
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Three to five years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Android development.
  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK.
  • Experience with Jetpack Components (Compose, ViewModel, Room, Navigation, etc.).
  • Expertise in MVVM, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles.
  • Proficiency in consuming REST APIs and handling offline caching.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience with Firebase services, push notifications, and analytics.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Gitlabs, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of Material Design guidelines and best practices.

Location Expectations The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days. Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00 - $136,400.00 U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
