About the position The Medical Scribe at Oak Street Health plays a crucial role in supporting primary care providers by managing clinical documentation, allowing them to focus on delivering exceptional patient care. This position involves observing patient visits, documenting encounters in real-time, and assisting with clinical documentation improvement. The role is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in healthcare, providing valuable experience in a clinical setting. Responsibilities ? Documenting patient encounters in a structured note, including the history of the present illness, assessment, plan, and physical exam. , ? Assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes. , ? Preparing After Visit Summaries. , ? Consulting with the provider to ensure accurate and specific documentation. , ? Requesting and reviewing medical records to support clinical documentation improvement. , ? Leveraging population health tools to enhance clinical documentation. , ? Preparing for and supporting Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews. , ? Placing orders and referrals as needed. , ? Addressing administrative tasks and supporting the care team with additional responsibilities related to clinical documentation. Requirements ? Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience. , ? Advanced listening and communication skills. , ? Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows. , ? Ability to adapt to new workflows and quickly learn new concepts and skills. , ? Ability to type 70 words per minute. , ? Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours. Nice-to-haves ? Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering. , ? Prior scribe or transcription experience. , ? Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by the communities served. Benefits ?
