Principal OSP Engineer- Day 1. USA
About The Role The Principal OSP Engineer - Network Acceptance and Operations is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of outdoor fiber optic networks from Day 1 acceptance through ongoing operations. This role requires expertise in OSP engineering, network operations, and quality assurance, as well as strong leadership and communication skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement processes and procedures for Day 1 acceptance of OSP networks, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations
- Lead the technical evaluation and acceptance of new OSP networks, including fiber optic cable systems, conduit systems, and associated infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and quality assurance to ensure smooth network turnover and operations
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network designs, test reports, and as-built records
- Provide technical guidance and support for Day 2 operations, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of OSP networks
- Work with operations teams to develop and implement processes for ongoing network monitoring, testing, and maintenance
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve OSP network quality and reliability
About You Key Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in OSP engineering, network operations, and quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies, cable design, and network operations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with ability to collaborate with diverse teams
- Experience with GIS mapping, CAD design, and other engineering software tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Industry certifications, such as P.E. license, OSPIE, or CFOT, highly desirable
