Overview
MLB Capital Partners, a Houston-based private investment company that specializes in commercial real estate, development, and hospitality investments, is currently looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant to support our growing business. MLB has approximately 15 employees, including the 5-person Management Team. The Firm currently manages approximately 10-15 entities for accounting purposes: limited partnerships, corporate general partners, limited liability companies, and management companies that require reporting to the IRS and the various partners and lenders. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing the accounting for all entities and related management companies and preparing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with the standard accounting procedures. In addition, the Senior Accountant manages the annual tax return preparation process and the annual audits.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Senior Property Accountant include, but are not limited to the following: Monthly Accounting
- Prepare necessary journal entries to record accounting activity such as distributions, contributions, loan activity, amortization, depreciation, capitalization, and other recurring activity
Review bank reconciliations and other accounting transactions prepared by the property bookkeeper for accuracy Prepare reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts Review and provide explanations of Income Statement variance and budget to actual variances, inquire with Property Managers as necessary Assemble a monthly reporting package for each entity for monthly Partner meetings including financial statements, cash forecast, dashboard reporting, rent rolls, and other key financial information Respond to questions from Partners on financial activity Process annual 1099s Annual Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for applicable properties and management entities
Assist and coordinate with outside CPA for annual audit including providing draft financial statements, PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules, and answering inquiries Assist and work with outside CPAs in preparing tax returns for all entities. Review returns for accuracy Other Duties
- Attend monthly Partner meetings to review financial results

Banking Applications ShareFile Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required Minimum 5 years of accounting experience within a commercial real estate entity required Advanced knowledge and efficient use of Yardi is required MS Excel proficiency required Working knowledge of commercial leases Strong understanding of GAAP principles Possess characteristic traits of independent thinking, and self-starting initiatives while working well in a team-oriented environment Must be able to handle flexibility in task management while having a keen eye for detail Ability to multi-task, utilize effective time management skills, and be able to recognize and respond to time-sensitive issues and tasks Ability to maintain discretion regarding personnel and industry-related matters Expected salary: Location: Houston, TX Job date: Thu, 01 Sep 2022 22:24:18 GMT Apply for the job now!
