Description JOB DESCRIPTION: • Conducts ongoing individual and or/ small group skills training for new DAR staff members, conducts continuing education for DAR staff members, provides skills practice for Emory research staff, maintains required training activity records and certification registries. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma and four years of laboratory animal husbandry or related animal care experience which must include one year in a lead or supervisory capacity, AALAS Certification at the LAT level or higher is required. • This person must have knowledge of a broad range of husbandry procedures, basic research procedures, basic training techniques, regulatory requirements, and basic computer programs. • Performs and demonstrates many types of animal husbandry and related procedures, basic to intermediate animal research techniques, intermediate computer skills (including PowerPoint and learning database management), and excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated ability in working with and mentoring/developing others. • Conducts work in a variety of environments. • Works with technicians (animal care, cagewash, and research) in animal housing and procedural rooms as well as classrooms. • Requires working in ABSL1 and ABSL2 environments. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
