[Remote] Healthcare Attorney

They are seeking a part-time Healthcare Attorney to review and negotiate healthcare-related contracts, advise on regulatory compliance, and collaborate with various teams to assess legal risks for AI-enabled healthcare solutions.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of healthcare-related contracts, including service agreements, business associate agreements, licensing arrangements, and vendor contracts
- Advise on healthcare regulatory compliance, including telehealth, privacy, data security, consent, and record retention, as well as applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations
- Partner with product, clinical, operations, and engineering teams to assess legal risks for AI-enabled healthcare solutions
- Help shape compliant workflows and develop practical guidance for deploying new features and services
- Issue spotting and providing concise legal opinions
- Support policy and procedure development
- Collaborate on risk-management strategies
- Coordinate with external counsel when needed
Skills
- Licensed attorney (JD or equivalent) in good standing with at least 3–5 years of experience practicing healthcare law, preferably in a telehealth, digital health, or health tech environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare regulatory frameworks, such as HIPAA and related privacy and security rules, telehealth regulations, fraud and abuse considerations, and state-specific practice of medicine rules
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating healthcare contracts (e.g., services agreements, BAAs, payer or network agreements, and technology or data-sharing arrangements)
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for cross-functional, non-legal stakeholders
- Comfort working with technology-driven products, including AI-enabled tools, and familiarity with legal and ethical considerations surrounding digital health and data use
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong legal research and analytical abilities, and a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity, manage multiple matters concurrently, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience with startup or growth-stage companies
