As a Data Annotation Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our annotation workflows meet the highest standards of precision, consistency, and efficiency. Our teams work collaboratively with engineers, researchers, and product leaders to support the development of intelligent systems that power autonomous driving, computer vision applications, and large-scale machine learning initiatives. The Data Annotation Supervisor position sits within our Information Annotation department, which is responsible for labeling images, video, and 3D sensor data that serve as the ground truth for training and validating neural networks. The accuracy of this work is critical—it directly influences the performance of customer-facing autonomous features and the overall safety profile of our products. As a supervisor, you will lead a medium-sized team of annotation specialists, ensuring that every label meets rigorous quality standards and that your team operates with maximum efficiency and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Team Performance Management: Oversee the day-to-day performance of your annotation team, including creating individualized training plans, tracking progress against key performance indicators, and completing monthly performance reports for both Annotators and Team Leads. Daily Operations Oversight: Evaluate daily performance metrics within proprietary annotation software, generate reports on team statistics, and communicate summaries to leadership on a consistent basis. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with software developers, engineers, and senior leadership to refine annotation methodologies that balance technical constraints with operational efficiency. Process Improvement and Documentation: Develop a deep understanding of project guidelines, communicate labeling concepts clearly, identify weaknesses in current processes, and contribute to the creation of comprehensive documentation and training materials. Resource Allocation: Strategically distribute team capacity across Quality Control, Labeling, and other priority work lines on a daily basis, in alignment with leadership directives. Documentation and Planning: Ensure that all team documentation, daily plans, and operational records are accurate, current, and easily accessible to stakeholders. People Development: Conduct bi-annual performance reviews, hold monthly check-ins with Team Leads and senior annotators, and provide mentorship that helps direct reports grow professionally. Recognition and Engagement: Identify and reward team members who consistently exceed performance expectations, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation. Team Cohesion: Mentor direct reports, encourage collaboration, and ensure the team functions as a unified, high-performing unit. Time and Attendance Management: Accurately manage timekeeping and attendance records through workforce management systems.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience managing and motivating medium-sized teams that perform manual or repetitive tasks.
  • Strong ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks by urgency, and consistently meet deadlines.
