Job Overview As a Call Center Representative at Walgreens, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing patient enrollments, and resolving third-party exceptions. You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, utilizing our pharmacy systems to access patient and medication information. Your duties may vary depending on the assigned department, but your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring seamless operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new patient enrollments by entering information into our system using Walgreens' prescription data entry procedures and guidelines.
  • Handle patient medication requests within HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
  • Research and obtain missing prescription information, interpret clinical abbreviations (SIG codes), and resolve data entry-related exceptions.
  • Communicate with patients (inbound calls, visits, messages) and make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed to resolve issues.
  • Resolve third-party exceptions by investigating, gathering information, creating claims, and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements.
  • Provide support to pharmacists, both in-office and in other locations, and identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, adhering to company policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic level computer skills, including:
  • Starting and shutting down the computer.
  • Using the mouse to point and click.
  • Starting and closing programs.
  • Switching between programs.
  • Saving files and printing documents.
  • Accessing information online.
  • Basic browser skills, including:
  • Opening a browser.
  • Typing URLs in the correct location.
  • Using a search engine.
  • Bookmarking a webpage.
  • Navigating using back/forward/stop buttons.
  • Completing forms online.
  • Intermediate level keyboarding skills (at least 25 WPM, typing by memory, organizing documents).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred:

  • At least 1 year of pharmacy experience in a retail or call center environment.
  • At least 1.5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician with certification/registration by the state as approved by the State Board of Pharmacy or a widely recognized certification agency.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services and assessing customer satisfaction.
  • Intermediate to advanced level keyboarding skills (at least 35 WPM, typing by memory, organizing documents).
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English.
